Each week your child will receive instruction from open water safety certified instructors in water safety and surf etiquette. Every morning will begin with wake up light stretching and warm-up exercise before venturing into the surf. An Ohana instructor will meet and discuss his/her experiences, such as understanding local water conditions, surfing competitions and visiting other breaks around the world.
Through our partnerships with local organizations your child will also learn about ocean sciences and related topics. Weekly appearances to the camp would include spokespersons from the Galveston Beach Patrol, Surfrider Foundation, Moody Gardens, and The Texas Marine Mammal's Stranding Network. Each spokesperson on hand would explain their organization's leading role in helping to preserve the ocean's and its' habitat.
Teachings on waves, tides, marine biology, coastal ecology, and understanding beach profiles are covered.
In addition to all the surf and marine activities, Ohana has the services of renown Gulf Coast photographer Lance Gandy. He will be on hand to take scheduled individual, group, team or action photos as requested and provided by Lance Gandy Photography.
During the sessions various surf industry professionals, surfboard shapers, surf company representatives will also visit camp each week to share their experiences in the sport.
Accompanied with giveaways from Ohana & other Surf Camp sponsors, we end each camp session with a complimentary pizza party at noon on Thursday's.
We hope to assist you in "Learning to Surf," so see you for another "Summer Of Fun!"
